ZDNet has posted a short walkthrough of HP’s portable data center, POD, which we assume is set to compete with other container data centers from for example Sun and Rackable.
You can find the whole walkthrough over at ZDNet, including more pictures and information.
Want one? It’ll only cost you just over $1 million. Without servers. 🙂
Container data centers in general are pretty cool, and the whole concept is being embraced by more and more companies. Sun is probably the most famous, with their Blackbox container data center, but IBM, Google and others also work with them.
Curious about what other portable data centers look like? Then go to our post with pictures from Sun’s Project Blackbox and Rackable’s ICE Cube: What the inside of a container data center looks like.
