What is Claude? Claude is a leading AI assistant and suite of large language models developed by Anthropic. What happened on March 2nd, 2026? Claude experienced a significant service disruption that rendered the web application and mobile interface inaccessible for many users worldwide. The outage coincided with a period of increased demand following Claude reaching the #1 spot on the Apple App Store.

As of 11:49 UTC, Anthropic reported they were investigating reports of elevated error rates on Claude.ai. By 12:06 UTC, they confirmed the investigation was ongoing as users continued to encounter “Internal Server Errors.” While the core API remained functional for some, specific API methods and login paths were officially flagged as degraded by 13:58 UTC.

By 15:50 UTC, Anthropic implemented a fix and began monitoring recovery.
